Park View teacher Alex Godbold is staff advisor for the school's Environment Club. Group members see the project as contributing to the beautification of school grounds as well as the environmental education of students and the community. "In general terms," says Mr. Godbold, "we are creating an outdoor, heavily shaded area that could accommodate a class of up to 30 students. The area will allow for traditional, large-group instruction, for group work and individual work spaces for students. With the help of Helping Nature Heal, the classroom will be created by staff and students from the school. [It] will not only allow them to learn in a more natural setting, it will also give them a hands-on education by contributing to its creation and maintenance." |
